Good morning!
Well, it is almost exactly a week until I have my first wedding dress fitting, so I have decided it would be a good time to do a week cleanse. My body is physically craving a cleanse after I decided two days ago it would be a good idea to reward myself with a few cookies before going entirely gluten free. This was not a good idea.
For the last few months I have gradually been trying to make my diet cleaner, eating more whole foods. Green smoothies for breakfast, salad or pulses for lunch and some form of cooked protein and salad to finish the day. I have had my occasional off day where I enjoy whatever I like when we go out for tapas in Spain with friends. Without consciously intending to do so, I had basically not consumed anything containing flour for just over two weeks. Possibly even longer. Not until *those* cookies. Well, this was pay back time. I was in a lot of discomfort and my stomach still feels a tickling itching sensation two days on. I'm not going to be graphic but it wasn't pretty.
On the plus side, the road I was umming and arring as to whether I really wanted to take it has presented itself very clearly as my only option. My body has said enough is enough, and although disappointed as I like a lot of meals which contain wheat - I am also excited to bring out my creative side and discover some interesting dishes. I am also hoping that if this was a contributing factor to the endo pain I have been feeling in the past, without even knowing it, I am hoping this will reap rewards that will help me not to yearn for pizza!
In the meantime, as I feel so sluggish and terrible after my 'cookie ordeal' I have decided it would be a great time to take up the challenge of going raw for 7 days. The raw diet promises to reduce bloat, brighten the mind, and hopefully help me drop a couple of pounds. Sounds good to me! It's also the perfect time of year with so many delicious vegetables and fruit in season.
Over the next seven days I will share with you what I am eating, how I am feeling, and best of all, the results. I know I look to other bloggers for healthy living inspiration and meal inspiration, so I hope this will help some people.
Well, this is where I'm at folks, ready to roar!
Have a great weekend all, I will be updating you soon with how I fare!
